How to use Head gestures on the Samsung Galaxy Buds4 series

Last Update date : Mar 03. 2026

When the Head gestures feature is enabled, you can accept or reject calls by moving your head up and down or side to side. You can also interact with Bixby without speaking, allowing for more convenient hands-free control. When the feature is turned on from the connected Galaxy device, the earbuds recognise head movements to control calls.

Note: The Head gestures feature is available only on Galaxy devices running One UI 8.5 or later. Some features may not be supported depending on the device model and software version.

How to turn on Head gestures

The Head gestures feature can be enabled in the Settings of the connected Galaxy device. Once activated, head movements are automatically detected when an incoming call is received. Follow the steps below to activate the feature.

Using Head gestures during calls

After enabling the Head gestures feature, it operates automatically when a call is received. You can control calls with head movements without touching the earbuds.

Note:

  • Make sure the earbuds are worn properly and move your head clearly for accurate recognition. Movements that are too slight or incomplete may not be detected.
  • You can answer or reject a call using Head gestures only within 20 seconds of receiving the call. After 20 seconds, the feature will no longer operate.
  • The command controls based on head movements can be changed in Settings.

Troubleshooting Head gestures

If the feature does not function properly, first check the settings and connection status. Recognition may vary depending on the software version and how the earbuds are worn. Review the following items in order:

  • Check whether the Head gestures feature is turned on in the Galaxy Buds4 settings.

  • Make sure the Galaxy Buds4 software is updated to the latest version.

  • Re-wear the earbuds and confirm that wear detection is functioning properly.

Note:

  • Menu names may vary depending on the device model and software version.
  • Available content and features may vary by country, region, or supported device.
