There is no sound from an external display after HDMI connection

If you have connected an external display using an HDMI cable but no sound is output, you can solve the problem by changing the default output device to the one with HDMI.

Changing in Windows settings

1 Click the [Start] button on the taskbar, and then click [Settings].
2 Click [System].
3 Click [Sound].
4 Select the HDMI-connected device under Output.

Note: The name of the HDMI-connected device may be displayed differently.

Changing the default output device in the Sound Control Panel

1 Click the [Start] button on the taskbar, and then click [Settings].
2 Click [System].
3 Click [Sound].
4 Click the Sound Control Panel in the right-hand menu.
5 In the Sound Control Panel, find the HDMI-connected device and right-click on it, then choose [Set Default Communication Device] to change it.
6 The HDMI device driver is included in the graphics driver package.
If there is still no sound after you follow the steps above, reinstall your graphics and sound drivers through [Samsung Update].
